Donations

The dream of Social Lights was born on a beach in Florida in the early months of 2024 (learn more here). The dream was to create a place for people to come together in person, to serve the lonely, and to build up established friends. This dream has begun to be realized as we have been able to host and share fruitful gatherings where new friends have had fruitful conversations and made meaningful connections and as we continue to explore the Chicagoland area and beyond in search of communities to uplift.

Since Social Lights began in Spring of 2024, we’ve been able to reach more and more people and host bigger and bigger events. We’ve gotten connected with seven regularly meeting groups and hosted events as big as seventy people. We hope to maintain this momentum and reach as many people as we possibly can as effectively as we possibly can. It is our earnest desire to host the highest quality events and to tirelessly work at building and connecting more weekly communities.

As the scale and frequency of these events increase, however, the costs of putting them on increase as well. We aim to be as efficient as possible, hosting events that are inexpensive and thrifty, but the reality is that regardless of the event they all require many hours of planning and preparation and many miles of driving. The other reality is that when all our endeavors are purely donations of our time we are limited in how much we can afford to dedicate to them.

It is for all these reasons that we humbly ask you to consider making a donation to Social Lights. All donations will go into party hosting (food, drinks, etc.), fuel costs for getting to groups across the area, and for the improvement of the Social Lights group.

As of right now Social Lights is not a legal entity. All donations are handled by David Robison.

Your contributions help us alleviate personal finical strain and allow us to dedicate more time to reaching new people and hosting higher quality events. Those who become monthly or annual subscribers can be added to an email list which will receive short monthly updates about our activities as Gluesticks.

Social Lights aims to fight the social disconnection that has become prominent in American society, especially since 2020. We aim to do so by hosting and promoting quality community spaces. If you would like to support our endeavors you can do so by donating.
