Social Lights Mission Statement
We aim to cultivate meaningful friendships and create places for people to come together face to face.
Our Three Core Beliefs
1. Community. We believe it’s essential for people to be able to rub shoulders in a community. We believe it’s essential to have third spaces wherein we can go to make friends, find partners, and expand their networks. We want to host and promote groups and events for people, especially young adults, to be able to spend time together.
2. Communion. Communion is the sharing of thoughts, emotions, and spirituality between individuals. We believe that inside a community each person should be engaging in appropriate but meaningful communion with others. As Gluesticks we seek to be intentional within the spaces we inhabit. We aim to participate in good conversations and invest in the lives of those around us.
3. Christianity. We believe that community cannot exist without purpose. Our primary goal is to unite Christ’s body across denominational lines. We are proud to promote groups and events hosted by a variety of different churches and denominations. We are eager to bring together people of different traditions. We desire to see Christ’s Kingdom built here on earth.
About Us
Welcome to Social Lights! We are a group of Generation Z young adults who want to bring people together. Our goal is to create in-person spaces for people of every generation. We believe there are significant and growing challenges to interpersonal connection today. We believe that disconnection, sometimes reaching the level of hostility, is present between many individuals and demographics in our American culture today. Our aim is to cultivate friendships that can bridge these disconnects.
We serve everyone we can but, being young adults ourselves, we have a primary focus on people ages 18-30.
We want to host and promote regular and special events for people to talk and commune face-to-face. We believe that face-to-face is generally a much more effective way for people to enjoy each other’s personalities. We believe that friendships can sharpen us as people, and also provide excellent emotional, intellectual, and mental support.
People of all beliefs are welcome to join us at our events. As Christians we seek to follow Jesus’ command to treat others as we would want to be treated. However, we do not believe friendships and community can be built in a vacuum. We want the space we create and share to be open to all people but we do not shy away from the fact that we are a community aiming to build ourselves around objective biblical morals, traditional family values, and healthy relationships of reasonable accountability and respect. If you don’t agree with some of these values we still welcome you so long as you’re willing to be respectful. We aim to share our love and community with any willing to receive it.
Our commitment to Jesus means we hold God’s word in high esteem. We will not endorse or create spaces that tolerate or encourage blatant degeneracy or irresponsibility.
